Maldives Police Service has stated that tomorrow’s protest organized by the opposition will not be peaceful and it will not be allowed.
Spokesperson of Maldives Police Service Ahmed Shifaan said that the police intelligence has received information that the purpose of tomorrow’s protest is to create chaos and to confront the security forces.
He said that even though the articles in the constitution which allows freedom to protest has been suspended during the state of emergency, police have been allowing it. He said that however it will not be allowed tomorrow.
Shifaan said that even now there have been two fire incidents in Addu City and one incident in Male’. He requested the public not to take part in tomorrows protest.
