Maldives Media Council has monitored the injuries sustained by journalists who were covering the protests organized by Maldivian opposition parties yesterday.
Police used excessive force against journalists who covered yesterday’s protests. Many journalists were injured, and many got treated at ADK and IGMH. Members of MMC visited the hospitals last night and checked on the journalists.
Members of MMC says that according to the journalists, the police knew that they were journalists even when they used force against them. Also the member said that the police ordered journalists to stop broadcasting the protests from TV.
