President Yameen has requested the parliament to extend the state of emergency for 30 days. MP Ahmed Nihaan hs recommended to send the request to National Security Committee of the Majlis.


Meanwhile, MP Ahmed Mahloof says that today’s parliament session is being held unlawfully. He said that the sitting of the parliament can be conducted with 43 MPs only and today’s session has only 39 MPs.

Mahloof said that this is a win for the opposition and that the government is being exposed for the whole world. The opposition members are saying that they are not taking part in today’s session because the session is being held illegally. They are saying that the 12 MPs were not allowed to enter the parliament because the government will not get the majority. The 12 MPs who were unseated by the EC, were stopped near Sosun Magu by the security forces.
