It is difficult to say that the articles related to the judiciary and the parliament which were suspended in the state of emergency were suspended lawfully : MP Nasheed

Mohammed Nasheed of Kulhudhuhfushi constituency have said that it is hard to say that the articles related to the judiciary and the parliament which were suspended in the state of emergency were suspended lawfully.

“Some of the articles suspended in the declaration are related to the judiciary and the parliament. I do not believe that those articles can be suspended. This declaration can be passed without suspending those articles” said Nasheed.

Parliament has passed to send the issue of the extension of the state of emergency to the national security committee of the parliament. 38 members voted to make this decision. It is expected that the committee will soon pass to extend the state of emergency.
