Opposition parties have stated that they cannot trust the Elections Commission due to the current composition of the commission.
An official of the opposition parties say that they cannot trust a commission where the members say that they will elect President Yameen no matter what.
In addition the SG of JP Ahmed Sameer also stated that the parliament appointed a PPM activist to the EC after hijacking the parliament committee for independent institutions.
He said that the vote to appoint the activist was also taken irregularly. Sameer said that now the commission is functioning as the president wishes and hence there is no room for the commission or any other independent institution to act impartially.
