Medina University and IUM signs agreement of cooperation

Medina University and Islamic University of Maldives has signed an agreement of cooperation.

In a ceremony held today, the rector of Medina University Khathim Hassan Al Marzooq signed the agreement on behalf of the university and Chancellor of IUM Dr.Shaheem signed on behalf of IUM.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr.Shaheem said that this agreement is very important. “Many Maldivian students studied from Medina University and they are serving the country in various ways” said Dr.Shaheem.

Dr.Shaheem said that Medina University does not only teach religious subjects now, but also various other courses in English are offered as well. Dr.Shaheem said that this agreement will also strengthen the relation between the two countries and IUM will benefit immensely. “Since the opening of IUM we have been forging relations with various international universities and today we add another to the list” said Dr.Shaheem.

Dr.Shaheem said that this visit will be historical because this is the first time a rector of a Saudi Arabian university visits Maldives to sign an agreement of cooperation with a Maldivian university. Dr.Shaheem said that a ceremony will be held at IUM tomorrow morning to sign the agreement between IUM and Medina University. He said that IUM will benefit immensely from this agreement.

“This agreement is very historical. The proposals made by Medina University was approved during a cabinet meeting headed by King Salman” said Dr.Shaheem.
Dr.Shaheem said that under this agreement, educational opportunities, thesis supervision, research, training programs, academic staff exchange and many other programs will be conducted.
