Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom’s lawyers have requested to change him to Dhoonidhoo if he cannot be changed to house arrest to serve his jail sentence.

Mohammed Faisal a member of Maumoon’s legal team said that Maumoon’s health has not improved and hence his life is at risk. “When he was in Dhoonidhoo, he faced these problems like 5 times. The doctors advised him to exercise and to keep someone with him at all times” said Faisal.

His lawyers said that while Maumoon has been changed to Maafushi, he does not get the assistance and care he got at Dhoonidhoo prison.
