JP delegates has passed to keep the party leader’s position vacant till JP leader Qasim Ibrahim makes a decision.
The motion was passed after a delegate raised the motion as an emergency motion. The delegate said that he made the motion because Qasim has been the leader of the party since inception and to value his contribution to the party.
So far Qasim has not made any statements about his position as party leader. The government has passed a legislation which prevents Qasim from running for the post of leader.
Legal experts are saying that the court verdict on Qasim Ibrahim is invalid and that it is not acceptable that Qasim should lose the position of party leader because of this verdict. Qasim has not lost his parliament seat as well. Parliament seat will be lost when the Supreme Court upholds the verdict of the criminal court. The High court has still not processed the appeal case filed by Qasim.
