Dr.Mohammed Shaheem Ali Saeed has decided not to step down as chancellor of Islamic University of Maldives.
Dr.Shaheem said that he made the decision because President Yameen did not accept his resignation and because the Attorney General gave advice that he has no legal barriers in remaining as the chancellor even though he is the running mate of President Yameen in the upcoming presidential elections.
Dr.Shaheem also said that the president has allocated land to develop a new building for IUM. He said that the Islamic Ministry of Saudi Arabia has assured to finance the project to develop the university.
