Arrival of MNDF Coast Guard Ship Huravee for Refit

“Maldives National Defence Force Coast Guard Ship (CGS) Huravee arrived at Indian Naval Dockyard Visakhapatnam on 12 July 2018 for a 5 month extensive refitting funded by Government of India at a cost of nearly $5Million.

CGS Huravee was escorted from Colombo to Visakhapatnam by Indian Navy ships.

The ship, commanded by Major Mohamed Jamshad has a crew of 25 personnel and had departed from Malè on 06 July. CGS Huravee is a Fast Attack craft and the ship was constructed by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers at Kolkata,

The ship, which has a length of 46 metres and full load displacement of 300 tons, was gifted to MNDF by the Government of India on 06 July 2006 as part of capacity-building. As part of the transfer, technical and material assistance in the form of refits in India, spare support and training packages have been provided regularly by Government of India. CGS Huravee is designed for EEZ and coastal patrolling, anti-piracy, anti-drug operations, anti-poaching operations, search and rescue operations and support to troops”.
