Fisheries Minister Dr.Shainee have said that the council of foreign ministers of EU, decided not to take action against Maldives because of the work done by the government.
Dr.Shainee said that the council tried to impose sanctions on Maldives based on incorrect information provided by the opposition but now he has cleared it up for them.
Both the opposition and the government were expecting EU to impose sanctions on specific top level government officials. However, the council passed a framework which will allow the council to make a decision on imposing sanctions in a later date.
