With the announcement of the upcoming Presidential Election 2018 of Maldives, the opportunity for International Monitors to monitor the election has been initiated from 26th June 2018 to the 15:00 of 14th August 2018.

Elections Commission says they will be authorizing valid International Monitor applications submitted in this time frame; within the guidelines to monitor the election.
Monitoring the election by any expedient without the accreditation of Elections Commission of Maldives is illegal and immediate action upon such cases would be executed. “Therefore, we would like to encourage as many Media Representatives to submit the applications and be granted the authorizationas International Monitors.” Says Elections commission of Maldives.

Elections commission has said that they look forward to the prospect of incorporating International Monitors to accomplish a credible, free and fair transparent election.
