Faisal Naseem the running mate of the opposition coalition has urged the government not to take advantage of the provision which allows to announce a state of emergency.

Faisal said that a country such as Maldives which is highly dependent on tourism should not take such things lightly. He said that it will not be easy to overcome the economic damages that occurs due to such decisions.

Faisal said that the people are not going to back down no matter how much they are intimidated. He said that the people will change this government.

Faisal did not reveal why he made this statement. However Defense Minister Adam Shareef tweeted tonight saying that a group of people are trying to destabilize the nation.
