President Maumoon’s lawyer Maumoon Hameed have said that the police acted illegally by entering President Maumoon’s residence.

Maumoon Hameed made this comment referring to a news article with the heading “ Is it only the right of some people to evade from punishment after committing a crime”.

Maumoon Hameed said that the police cannot act above the law and hence they can only ask for President Maumoon’s phone with a court order. He said that the police did not have a court order that night.

He said that hence, the police ordering president Maumoon to handover his phone is unlawful.
