A second candidate has filed application form to run in the upcoming presidential elections.
The second candidate is Hussein Naseer from Male’. At the moment he is residing in Sri Lanka. Elections Commission of the Maldives has accepted his application form. So far he has not conducted any campaigns.
Independent candidates who want to run in the election should submit signature from 1500 people to the Elections Commission. So far Hussein Naseer and Ibrahim Mohammed Solih are the only two people who filed application.
According to PPM, their candidate President Yameen will submit the form before the due date.
