President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has sent a message of congratulations to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, His Excellency Imran Khan, following the assumption of Office.

The President’s message reads as follows:

“On behalf of the Government and the people of the Maldives, it gives me great pleasure to extend to Your Excellency warm congratulations on assuming the Office of the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

As you take on the duties and responsibilities of your position, I pray upon Almighty Allah for your continued strength and wisdom to uplift the national spirit of your people for a more unified Pakistan and fulfil their aspirations for further development, progress and prosperity. Let me also express my earnest desire to work alongside Your Excellency to pursue new avenues of cooperation between the Maldives and Pakistan and expand the historical ties of friendship and brotherhood.
