President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has appointed Uz. Muhthaz ‎Muhusin as the Prosecutor General. ‎

T‎he appointment ceremony was held on Tuesday morning at the ‎President’s ‎Office. ‎Uz. Muthaz took the oath of office before the ‎Supreme Court Judge ‎Abdulla Areef.

At the Fifteenth Sitting of the Second Session of the People’s Majlis, MPs approved Muhuthaz Muhusin of Raimas, Ga. Maamendhoo, for the post of Prosecutor General.

The candidate, proposed by the President and approved after review by the Committee on Independent Institutions, received 63 votes in favor from the Majlis floor. There were 7 MPs who voted against, and 12 abstentions.

The Chair of the Committee on Independent Institutions, Ali Saleem, MP for Funadhoo, presented the committee report on review of candidates sent by the President for the post.
