Jumhooree Party leader, Gasim Ibrahim has called all to abandon cheating, treachery, revenge and deceit and to embrace sincerity, honesty and uprightness.

Gasim Ibrahim made this remark in his address to the nation on the occasion of the Independence Day of Maldives.

Gasim Ibrahim said that the aim of all Maldivians should be to not be enslaved by any person whatsoever and to give precedence of Islam above everything else.

“I would like to welcome and congratulate the Maldives independence hero former President Sumuvul Ameer Ibrahim Nasir Rannabandeyri Kilegefaanu Ibrahim Nasir who attained political independence for Maldives on 26 July 1965, all such veterans and the beloved people of Maldives on this joyous occasion. I ask Allah to preserve this nation upon independence,” he said.

He said that the people of Maldives are a people who always loved independence although it has been only 49 years since the independence of Maldives from imperialism.

He said that the independence and sovereignty of Maldives exists today because Maldivians stood firm against all intimidations against the nation by enemies and foreign imperialists.

In addition to this Gasim called all Maldivians to display a unanimous sense of national pride and patriotism, and in doing so, show great loyalty and respect towards their country and the rights of its people.
