The Embassy of China partners with ARC to support children in Shelters

ARC in partnership with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China has launched an Early Childhood Play and Development Programme for Kudakudhinge Hiya. This programme includes training, monitoring and implementation phases and helps ensure that play activities are embedded in daily routine for the children at the shelter.

At the ceremony held today at Kudakudhinge Hiya, ARC’s Executive Director noted that “the programme aims to broaden the understanding of the childcare workers on the role of play in early childhood, for children’s development and education”. She further expressed sincere appreciation to H.E. Mr Wang Fukang, Ambassador of China to the Maldives and to the Government of the People’s Republic of China, for their generosity and support to Kudakudhinge Hiya.

The programme is scheduled to conclude in December with certificates awarded for the participants who successfully implement the training. Speaking at the event, H. E. Mr Wang Fukang expressed his commitment to make a difference to the lives of children at shelters in the Maldives. H. E. Mr Wang Fukang also donated many gifts for the children, on the joyous occasion of Eid.

The event was participated by officials of the Embassy of China to the Maldives, Members of ARC and Senior Management and staff of Kudakudhinge Hiya. The children of Chinese Embassy staff also participated at the event, brought gifts and spent time with the children of Kudakudhinge Hiya.
