Villa Group Chairman and Jumhooree Party Leader Qasim Ibrahim has returned back to Maldives.

He returned after a four month stay in Bangkok and Frankfurt, Germany, this morning.

It has been reported that he had stayed in Bangkok to monitor the progress of a Villa Group ship docked in Thailand. During his stay, Villa Group had faced many challenges, with the group facing many financial difficulties, with many recipients of his aid suffering in the process.

Villa Group’s Villa Shipping and Trade Company’s accounts were recently frozen by MIRA and lengthy trials have been carried out by the State against the Group. Due to these factors, the Group had suffered immense losses along with lost contract. At the last resort, the Group had entered a deal with the Government for payments in installment schemes, even though the Group still say that this amount was not an amount that the Group needed to pay. Following this deal, the Group’s accounts have been released by the Government.
