Jumhooree Party Leader Qasim Ibrahim has stated that land ownership as an incentive for those parties who invest US$ 1 billion and land reclamation would bring immense benefits to the nation.
He made the statement speaking in the debate session of the Parliament held last night on the issue.
The motion put forward by PPM calls to amend clause 251 and add eight items as sub-clause 15 to clause 301.
Qasim stated that he personally supported the motion as it was beneficial to the whole of the nation as well as create many jobs. He added that almost all nations offered land on a free hold basis and that this was a best practice employed by many developed nations, such as Qatar, Dubai, Singapore and European nations.
Qasim added that priority must be given to ensure and securing investments as a means to develop the education, economy and society. He thanked President Yameen for his initiative in putting forward such a bill.
