PTS Travel News has reported that based on the services available in the tourism sector, Maldives has claimed great wins in the global sector.

The paper said that the natural beauty of the country and the sustainability of the resorts were two of the most appreciated aspects of the destination. Additionally, the beautiful reefs and underwater beauty were the most unique aspects of the destination.

A senior figure in the industry said that such wins should be celebrated by the country, which will in turn raise the profile of the Maldives in the global tourism sector.

Tourism Minister Moosa Zameer had assured that tourists will increase in the coming year. Based on the bookings, Minister Zameer said that the industry is expected to grow by 20 percent.

Next year is marked as the Visit Maldives Year, with the sector gearing to cater to an influx of visitors. As such, Ibrahim Nasir International Airport is being expanded to include a larger apron and private jet landing areas.

MACL has assured that the airport will seek to cater to more private jets, which will bring in more high-end visitors to the country.
