Chancellor of Islamic University of Maldives Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed states that, no country has experienced peace after foreign intervention in order to reform its systems and that we should ensure that Maldives faces no such fate.

In a Facebook post to this effect, Dr Shaheem delved into detail, showing examples from history on attempts by colonial powers to take away the peace in target countries and how target countries reacted in the respective situations. He said that even until today, there is no country that has been reformed with foreign intervention, that has experienced peace.

Quoting examples from history, Dr. Shaheem said Khalifa Ali had said there was no need to involve foreigners such as the Romans in the dispute between him and Muawiyath.

“When we reflect over the coup, we can learn many lessons. How democratic were the coup leaders when they said they wanted to kill President Erdogan?” he said.

“Rivers of blood flow in these countries. The citizens of these countries are destitute. The economy has been crushed. The countries have become slaves to others. Their history and civilization has been lost. There treasures have been stolen. Their children have been orphaned. We need to learn from these lessons. Therefore, Muslims should solve our problems by ourselves”, Shaheem said.

Dr Shaheem said that he felt the need to post this status, due to news that has been rotating in the press these days. He said that the reports reveal that foreign influence is being utilized to change the system in the country.

He said that no patriot with a strong mind would want to change the system in the country illegally with foreign intervention. He said that if such a situation arises, Maldivians should not hesitate to strengthen their ranks against colonial powers.
