Chinese President Xi Jinping have said that if countries disrupt each other in terms of trade, economic development cannot be attained.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of World Economic Forum in Davos, Xi Jinping said that if countries create import quotas and impose duties, then economic development cannot be attained. He said that the way forward for economic development is enabling free trade.

“If there is no room for free trade, then you are left behind in a dark room. Thus, you cannot feel the light and cool breeze outside the room, and will always feel uneasy” said the President.

His speech lasted for an hour and he said that no war fought against free trade can be won. In addition, he refuted the statements made by US against China.

“The world is globalized. We believe that. But we are against globalizing trade. How do we make things work ? So we should give a lot of importance to globalize trade” said the President.

The audience applauded when Xi Jinping said that the Chinese economy is open and investors can invest and compete in the Chinese market.
