Party tickets have been given to JP candidates contesting in the upcoming local council elections in a ceremony held tonight at JP head office. The tickets were handed over to the candidates by the leader of JP, Qasim Ibrahim.

Speaking at the ceremony, the candidate contesting for F.Niladhoo constituency said that he decided to run as a JP candidate because Qasim Ibrahim has always been someone who always try to help the people and to help people in that spirit.

Saabira who is contesting for Henveyru Medhu said that women played a key role in creating political parties in Maldives, but number of women in top political positions are few. She noted that women in leadership positions are less.

Sabira said that she is contesting to solve the various problems the country faces. She said that she will never change her party even if she gets elected. All the candidates who spoke tonight spoke in this regard.
