President Yameen has said that the opposition is trying to take a vote of no confidence against the speaker of the parliament not because he has any problems, but because they want to harass the government in some way.

In a ceremony where 400 people from Fulidhoo joined PPM, the president said that the opposition is in need of a sacrificial lamb. The president said that the parliament is being conducted according to the rules and regulations and even the government is being administered as per the laws. He said that hence the opposition wants to harass the government somehow.

In addition, the president said that if any wrong doings are brought to the attention of the government, government always tried to correct such problems. President also said that, even if a cabinet minister is involved in a corrupt act he will take action against them.

The president further said that, the government will not influence the judiciary but will request the institutions not to delay the cases.
