Solar-diesel hybrid power systems to be established in 13 islands of Hdh Atoll

A project to establish solar-diesel hybrid power systems in 13 islands of Hdh atoll has been contracted today.
The cost of the project is 9,954016.34 dollars and is funded by European Investment Bank and ADB. A ceremony was held at Environment Ministry today to award the project. Environment Minister Thoriq signed the agreement on behalf of the ministry.
Minister Thoriq said that under this project 14 generators will be supplied to 13 islands and also solar power plants of 2.27 megawatts will be established as well. “We are increasing renewable sources of energy in Maldives and working on to perfect the existing power supplies in Maldives” said the Minister.
