Parliament passes to reduce import duty on petrol and diese.

Parliament has passed amendment to the import legislation, reducing duties on petrol and diesel. The amendments were proposed by PPM PG leader Nihaan Hussein Manik and the amendments were passed unanimously by the 73 members who took part in the vote.
The economic committee of the parliament which reviewed the bill also passed the bill without any changes. According to the current laws, all fuel products will be taxed at 10 percent. However when the amendments get ratified it will be reduced to 5 percent.
While presenting the amendment to the parliament Nihaan said that the purpose of the amendments are to reduce the cost of basic services in the country.
