Mohammed Bin Salman the son of Salman Bin Abdul Aziz has been appointed as crown prince.


The previous crown prince Mohammed Bin Nayef was removed from his post today and was appointed as the interior minister. In a ceremony held today, Mohammed Bin Nayef also pledged allegiance to Mohammed Bin Salman.


This is the first time in history where a son of a king has been appointed as the crown prince. Since the Al Saud’s started ruling Saudi Arabia, Saudi has been ruled by sons of Abdul Aziz.


Currently Mohammed Bin Salman is also the defense minister and is widely popular among young people in Saudi Arabia. Mohammed played a wide role in diversifying the economy of Saudi Arabia and has good relations with Saudi Arabia’s western allies. He is also a close friend of the Maldives and often visits Maldives for holidays.
