The three-year jail sentence by the Criminal Court on JP leader Qasim Ibrahim has been submitted for appeal.
Qasim’s legal team said that they filed the case around 2:30 pm today at the Criminal Court. Under new regulations the appeal process can be started only by submitting the case to the court from which the verdict was issued.
A lot of people are concerned about the procedures of Qasim’s trial. The lawyers are also pointing out unlawful acts committed in the process. The lawyers noted that during the trial, instead of the PG lawyers the judge answered the questions of the defendant.
It is a crime to reveal information about the trial. However many lawyers are saying that even if their license to practice gets revoked they will not hesitate to reveal the truth.
