Corruption risk assessment report published by Anti-Corruption Commission has been inaugurated. The report was officially launched in a ceremony held at Customs Building this morning by Commissioner General of Customs Ibrahim Shareef.

According to ACC, they formulated the report because it is the legal obligation of ACC to identify the risk of corruption in state institutions and to take preventive action. They said that they have highlighted some factors related to Customs in the report.

The report says that there is still no way to protect whistle blowers and this hinders reporting of corruption. In addition the report says that the regulations of the Customs does not obligate Customs officers to submit their financial statements and it increases the risk of corruption especially since Customs officers can conduct private businesses.
