Islamic University of Maldives and national university of Malaysia, Universiti Kebangsaa Malaysia (UKM) have signed a historic agreement.

The agreement was signed during a ceremony held at UKM. Chancellor of IUM, Dr.Shaheem Ali Saeed signed on behalf of IUM while, Dr. Riza the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Academic and International Affairs signed on behalf of UKM.

Student exchange programs, faculty exchange programs, and joint researches will be conducted under this agreement. In addition, short term courses, international seminars, and training programs will be held.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr.Shaheem thanked the management of UKM for giving the opportunity to sign the agreement with a prestigious university such as UKM. In addition, Dr.Shaheem said that the education system of Malaysia is perfect and said that the fact that many Maldivian students who studied from Malaysia are serving in various fields is proof of that.

Dr.Shaheem said that he hopes that this agreement will bring development to both the universities.
