Criminal Court has decided that Faris Maumoon cannot be freed. Criminal Court made this decision in a hearing held today.
The judge decided that he cannot be released from detention. The state initially charged Faris Maumoon for bribing parliament members. However, it was later the PG lawyers changed the charges to accepting of bribes. The judge stated that Faris was detained lawfully and that the charges against him were also changed in accordance with the procedure.
The judge stated that if Faris is freed there is high chance that he will tamper with evidence and try to influence the whole case. In addition, Faris was given till 17th October to prepare defence testimonies and evidence.
The next hearing of the case will be held on 24th October.
