A medical college under National University of Maldives is to be established next year.
Speaking to the press, Health Minister Abdullah Nazim said that establishing a medical college will be an important step towards training adequate medical doctors, which is an important policy of the government to develop the health sector.
In addition, a steering committee to speed up the process has been created. IGMH, MNU, Ministry of Education, Maldives Qualification Authority, Maldives Medical and Dental Council are members of this steering committee.
“Pakistani government donated 5 million dollars to conduct this project. Once the medical college is established Maldivians can study medicine from Maldives” said the health minister.
