The 49th Republic Day of Maldives is to be celebrated in Trivandrum. The day will be celebrated with the opening of the new Maldivian Consul office in Trivandrum.

Speaking to Miadhu News, the Maldivian Consul in Trivandrum Ali Adam said that the special ceremony to mark republic day will be held on 11th November at the office of the Consul.

Habeys music group will be also taking part in the ceremony to present cultural items.

Until very recently, the consul of Maldives in Trivandrum was run in a very old warehouse like building. However, the current government rented a new building for the consul. Maldivians living in Trivandrum has noted that since the current government assumed office, the services provided by the consul has increased.

Most number of Maldivians living abroad lives in Trivandrum and it is the most visited city by Maldivians as well.
