Maldives Customs Service has informed 4 resorts of Villa Group, that they are to confiscate all the alcohol and pork in the resorts. Only Royal Island Resort is exempted from this.

The court order shown by Customs so far does not say that they can confiscate anything and they did not receive a new court order to confiscate anything. They did not tell why, they are confiscating the items, and just said that they are going to do it.

If they confiscate these things, the resorts cannot be operated and the resorts will be violating the agreements they have with tourists.

The resorts will be faced with many problems. Last night Customs said that they are searching the resorts because they got an intelligence report that alcohol in Royal Island Resort were being taken to Sun Island illegally. They did not say that they will take action against Royal Island. They plan to confiscate items from Sun Island, Paradise Island, Holiday Island and Fun Island resort.

Lawyers are saying that the government is conducting such acts during the weekend so that it will be difficult to take the matter to the court. So far they have not removed anything from the resorts. Resorts are worried because Customs failed to show what they have done unlawfully.

Lawyer Hisaan Hussein said that the Customs and Police stated that they have finished searching and so far did not tell what the resorts have done unlawfully.
