The world will not accept decisions passed in the parliament without giving chance for the opposition : Dr.Mausoom

Former Tourism Minister, Dr.Abdullah Mausoom have said that all members should get the chance to vote in the parliament and any decisions that are passed without giving the chance to all the members, will not be accepted by the international community.

Dr.Mausoom made this statement, with regard to today’s emergency parliament session which was conducted without the 12 MPs who were previously unseated by Elections Commission. Also, 3 MPs who are detained were also not allowed to attend today’s session.

Dr.Mausoom said that there is no use of extending the state of emergency through the parliament and that the government should extend it as long as they want. He said that there is no point in showing that the government is doing things in accordance with the law. In addition he said that the government has disregarded the constitution of the Maldives and that the government is doing whatever they want. He said that the people of Maldives should try to save Maldives from this situation.

Furthermore he said that the international community should take action against Maldives for paralyzing the constitution and that no country can paralyze the constitution to the extent it has been done in the Maldives.
