Maldivian opposition parties have said that the state of emergency will expire starting from tonight and said that they will not accept it from tonight onwards.

A senior official of the opposition coalition said that the security services should also know that Maldives is not in a state of emergency and that they should accept it too. “ Hence the security services should act towards the citizens as they do regularly and should also allow them to protest. Even before the state of emergency was maintained unlawfully” said the official.

During yesterday’s debate in the parliament about the declaration even PPM members noted that some of the clauses in the declaration contradicts with the constitution.

Opposition says that the declaration was invalid starting from the beginning.
