Dr.Hussein Rasheed said that it is not acceptable to dump trash at the beach and it is damaging to the environment. He said that the trash dumped at the beach will get accumulated on the reefs and as a result the reefs are dying.

He said that the growth of the islands are based on the reefs and if the reefs where the islands are based on is dead, then the islands will face serious consequences. 

Dr.Hussein said that plastic wastes and batteries are among the most dangerous objects which harms the reefs. He said that hence the President is also determined to stop single usage of plastic.

“He started a campaign to stop the use of plastic bottles in government offices. We are trying to expand it to the schools. We got more than 9000 bottles from UNICEF. We request businesses to assist this as well” said Dr.Hussein.
