MP Abdullah Riyaz the minority leader of the parliament has called to arrest former President Yameen to investigate MMPRC’s embezzlement case. Riyaz said this, after the former MD of MMPRC Abdullah Ziyath stated that it was President Yameen who finalized the lease agreements of islands leased out through MMPRC.

Riyaz said it can be proved that President Yameen was involved in the embezzlement and hence his efforts to destroy evidence can only be stopped when he is arrested. A statement issued by Ziyath’s wife on behalf of Ziyath states that President Yameen was aware of all the transactions carried out by MMPRC.

“Former Vice President Adheeb and I were informing former President Yameen about all the transactions conducted by MMPRC. Lease agreements of all islands and lagoons were finalized by former President Yameen” stated Ziyath.
