Joint parliamentary group has requested MP Latheef to withdraw the constitutional amendment on elections. 

MP Latheef submitted an amendment to the parliament to change the electoral laws to prevent former presidents from contesting in parliamentary elections. 

Abdullah Riyaz the parliamentary group leader of JP, said that Latheef submitted the amendment without consulting with JP and they asked to withdraw the amendment because it violates constitutional rights of President Nasheed. 

Latheef is a member of JP, however he has been taking part in activities of MTD.
