External Affairs Minister of India Sushma Swaraj has paid a courtesy call on the speaker of the parliament, Qasim Ibrahim.

In the meeting held at the parliament house today, Speaker Qasim noted the long and historic relations between the two countries. He thanked the government of India for India’s assistance in the development of Maldives.

In addition, they discussed about the upcoming parliamentary elections. 

Indian External Affairs Minister assured the speaker that the government of India will always assist Maldives. In addition she shared information about her visit to the speaker and said that she hopes the relation between the two nation will grow stronger. 

The meeting was attended by Fathimath Niusha, the secretary general of the parliament, Fathimath Filza the counsellor general of the parliament, Mohammed Rasheed the assistant secretary general of the parliament, Hanaan Hussain the assistant secretary general of the parliament and Zuyyira Badreee the director of foreign relations of the parliament.
