Parliament accepts the bill on providing privileges for ex-judges

Parliament of the Maldives has accepted the bill on providing privileges for ex-judges. 

The bill was submitted to the parliament by MP Riyaz Razeed. According to the bill, the chief justice before the new constitution was put into effect, and all the other judges since then should get certain privileges and allowances from the state even if they retire. 

The bill was accepted to the floor of the parliament with votes from 31 MPs. Meanwhile 15 members voted against the bill. 

Meanwhile, another bill has also been submitted to provide allowances and privileges for ex-parliament members. 

Speaking about the matter, MP Eva Abdullah said that even if the parliament passes these bills, the newly elected 19th parliament will repeal those acts.
