Parliament throws out bill submitted by MP Nazim to increase allowances for differently abled people

Parliament of the Maldives has thrown out the bill submitted by MP Nazim to increase allowances for differently abled people.

In today’s session 57 members voted against the bill. Only 12 members voted in favor of the bill. 

At the moment people with disabilities receive only MVR 2000 from the state. Nazim’s bill suggests increasing it to an amount between MVR 5000 and MVR 7000. 

In the 18th parliament, MP Anara submitted a similar bill and it was accepted to the parliament. However it got stuck in the committee stage and later was thrown out.
