MP Ahmed Thoriq has sent a notice to Home Minister Imran to summon him to the parliament to clear the government’s stand on implementing the death penalty. 

The notice sent by Thoriq to Imran states that since Ahmed Naseem a minister at the President’s Office stated in a meeting at the UN that the government will not implement death penalty, he would like to know the government’s official position regarding the matter. 

Former President Yameen’s administration planned to implement the death penalty but it wasn’t implemented.
