Shifaz renews the national record of half marathon at IOIG

Shifaz Mohammed has renewed the notational record of half marathon at Indian Ocean Island Games.

Shifaz completed the race at 4th place. However, for a large part of the race he was at the third place. He fell one position behind when it was just 4 kilometers to the end of the race. 

He lost the bronze medal with just a difference of 50 meters. He finished the race in 1 hour 10 minutes and 55 seconds. The bronze medal was won by an athlete from Madagascar who completed the race in 1 hour 10 minutes and 44 seconds. 

Shifaz broke the record which was previously made by Sharaf in Morocco. Sharaf made the record in 1 hour 12 minutes and 52 seconds. Shifaz also had the national record even before. He finished Prague marathon in 1 hour 13 minutes and 4 seconds.
