Maldives Police Service has stated that they are trying to bring back former Vice President Ahmed Adheeb from India.

He left Maldives on a tugboat, disguised as a crew. However, he was arrested when he reached Tuticorin port of India. 

Maldives Police Service issued a statement saying that they are investigating the matter and that they will take action against those who assisted Adheeb in fleeing. 

Adheeb did not have any official travel documents as his passport was being withheld after an order by the Supreme Court.
