Maldives Police Service has arrested former Vice President Ahmed Adheeb. 

Maldives Police Service tweeted a while ago stating that they have arrested former Vice President Ahmed Adheeb today and that he is being brought to Male’.

Adheeb fled Maldives on a tugboat disguised as a crew and he went to India. However India did not allow him to enter the country even though he requested for asylum. 

Instead Indian coastguard escorted the tugboat out of the Indian territory and into the Maldivian territory. From there, Maldivian Police Services took custody of Adheeb and all others on board the boat.
