Maldives is the highest priority of Ooredoo after Qatar: President Solih

President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih have stated that even though Ooredoo is a multinational company which provides their services in 10 countries, Maldives is the first country where they introduce new mobile technology after Qatar. He said that this shows the priority given to Maldives by Qatar.
Speaking at the ceremony held to launch the e-commerce platform of Ooredoo, the president said that it is important to understand why Ooredoo gives priority to Maldives. “It shows that Maldivians are digitally literate and how Maldivians are in need for modern technology. Also it shows that the Maldives is an easy destination to sell technology” said the President.
“Ooredoo is a great example which shows that foreign investments are successful in the Maldives. There are various such investments in Maldives. Ooredoo also showed us that such investments can be immensely beneficial for Maldives as well. We are ready to welcome foreign investments said the president.
In addition he stated that the technologies introduced by Ooredoo shows that it is very easy to develop human resources in the Maldives. “Hence it is very important to invest in digital technology in Maldives for human resource development. This is the best time for it” said the President.
Furthermore the president noted that it is not only the responsibility of the government to develop human resources and stated that NGOs and private companies can play an important role in the matter. “Even now they are playing an important role. However it can be further expanded and I think they can do many things under corporation social responsibility” said the President.
The president thanked Ooredoo for their role in introducing various new technologies to the Maldives and their services to the Maldives.
