MP Ali Hussein have stated that a happiness for Sri Lanka is a happiness for Maldives and that it will be an honor for JP and himself to welcome Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, to the Maldives. 

Speaking at the parliament tonight Ali Hussein said that all Maldivians shared the sorrow of the recent terrorist attack in Sri Lanka and that if something happens Sri Lanka is the closest destination for Maldivians to go. 

Sri Lanka and Maldives have always enjoyed strong ties. Sri Lanka played a huge role in liberating Maldives from the British Empire. Sri Lanka is the first country which allowed Maldives to open an embassy. 

Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wikram Singh will visit Maldives on 2nd September and address the parliament of Maldives on 3rd September according to Mohammed Nasheed the speaker of the parliament.
